Complete Bar/Bat Mitzvah Training
Each child is unique, and so I tailor my teaching to your child's needs. If your child has special needs or minimal Hebrew skills, we will need to begin lessons earlier (most likely at least 12 months before the bar/bat mitzvah). Otherwise I recommend beginning 8-10 months in advance. I provide weekly updates on your child's progress. If I am serving as a supplementary tutor I will coordinate closely with your child's primary tutor. I am happy to come to your home to give lessons, have you bring your child to my home, or do Skype lessons. My rates are $25/30 mins.; $40/45 mins.; $50/1 hour. My fee for conducting the service is $500.

Private or Group Hebrew, Yiddish, Trope or Davenning Lessons
Using a combination of online and print resources, I can make any of these skills accessible to people of all ages and backgrounds. I am happy to come to your home to give lessons, teach you in my home, or do Skype lessons. My rates for private lessons are $25/30 mins.; $40/45 mins.; $50/1 hour.

Adult group classes are $120/hour for the group (to be divided among the students), with a minimum of 6 students required to constitute a class. I am available to teach a variety of other topics - please see "Scholar in Residence/Visitng Rabbi" for more information.

Scholar in Residence/Visiting Rabbi
Some of the topics I've taught are: Torah as it relates to our world today; liturgy; the Haggadah; Jewish music of all kinds; Yiddish language and culture; Women's spirituality; Tkhines (Women's Yiddish Prayers); the Ten Commandments; the Book of Ruth; Midrash; the Jewish Holidays; Kashrut; Judaism and the Environment; Hands-on Guide to Jewish Rituals; Current Israeli Issues. I will gladly teach on other Jewish topics. I will also travel to serve as visiting rabbi for congregations unable to afford a full-time rabbi. My fees range depending on the number of sessions/topics, length of programs and other factors. Typically an individual session is $400.

Jewish Programming at Senior Residential Facilities
I conduct educational and interactive programs about the Jewish holidays, Jewish culture and music (especially Yiddish music), including explaining and demonstrating the history and rituals, teaching songs with guitar accompaniment, and sometimes arranging for special Jewish foods to be provided. I have conducted model Passover seders, led programs for Chanukah and other holidays. I work collaboratively with the Activities or Programming Director to schedule and design programs tailored to the needs and interests of the community. My rates are $75 for a 45-minute session; $100 for a 1-hour session and $150 for an hour and a half session.
Translation Services
Do you have a text in Hebrew or Yiddish that needs to be translated? Maybe it's an old
family Ketubah (marriage certificate), certificate of B'rit Milah (circumcision), an
inscription on an old photo, a tombstone, a letter, postcard or newspaper article, or the
frontispiece of a Hebrew or Yiddish book. Sometimes people find a Hebrew inscription on
a watch or piece of jewelry. Whatever your mystery item is, send me a clear photo, and I'll
help you solve it! My rates for translating are $25/half hour; $50/hour.
